Swim, Paddle, Kayak for Mental Health
10K or Open Distance
October 1, 2022
Redondo Beach, CA
Our third annual Swim, Paddle, Kayak for Mental Health (formerly the 10K Swim for Mental Health) will be held in Redondo Beach, CA, October 1, 2022, benefitting the South Bay Youth Project, part of the South Bay Children's Health Center.
UPDATE: As of September 30:
We have received a call from the LA County Lifeguards that the water quality in Redondo Beach "exceeds state bacteria limits" due to a sewage spill at RAT Beach.
The lifeguards advised us that people can swim at their own risk, but the County cannot support an event that involves participants getting in the water.
While we will not be doing a supported swim on Saturday, we hope you will join us to pick up your t-shirt, cap and swag bag and join us in a beach walk to honor Scotty. We will have lunch afterward provided by La Bella Napoli.
The schedule for check in and start time will be a little later:
Saturday, October 1, 2022
Ruby Tower, Redondo Beach, CA
(Just down the steps from Veteran's Park)
9 am check in opens at Ruby Tower
10am walk begins
11:30am lunch served
1pm event wrap up
I know many of you have been looking forward to this and have been training (myself included), and we want you to be able to complete your swim. We suggest that you do the swim at another time (at your own risk) and send us a pic with your cap and shirt so we can all celebrate each other and continue to spread awareness and provide mental health services for the youth.
It truly takes a community to support each other and we appreciate you being a part of this and contributing to such a great cause.
See you Saturday,
This event is for the community by the community. Too many of our family members, friends, relatives, and residents are affected by mental health issues. We are aiming to raise awareness of the issue and encourage healthy activities such as ocean swimming. As many of us know, the ocean heals. And as a community we can come together to make all of us stronger.
